Pastor Phillip L. Ferrell’s Biography

Pastor Phillip L. Ferrell has had a long and impactful career in ministry and community service. He has been the pastor of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Belleville, Michigan, for over three decades, serving for 31 years. Pastor Ferrell has served his congregation and surrounding communities in various leadership roles. Here's a summary of his background and accomplishments:

 

·      Leadership in Ministers' Alliances: He held leadership positions in the Ministers' Alliance of Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and Vicinity. He served as the President for eight years and also as the Treasurer.

 

·      Involvement in Christian Education: Pastor Ferrell was the 2nd Vice President of the Huron Valley District Congress of Christian Education and served as an instructor in the same organization.

 

·      Civic Engagement: He was a member of Governor Granholm's Faith-Based Advisory Committee, a member of the Washtenaw County Literacy Council, and a member of the Ypsilanti Public Schools Emergency Crisis Team, indicating his active involvement in community affairs.

 

·      Denominational Involvement: He attended workshops offered by the Wolverine State Baptist Convention and the National Baptist U.S.A. Convention and Congress, highlighting his commitment to denominational activities.

 

·      Education and Ministry: He attended and graduated from Ypsilanti Public Schools and also earned an Electronics Technician Diploma from the Bell & Howell School in Columbus, Ohio. Pastor Ferrell pursued his passion for the Word of God through further education and training. He took courses at William Tyndale Bible College, studied Expository Preaching at conferences, attended leadership conferences by John Maxwell, and participated in seminars related to Bible software.

 

Pastor Ferrell is married and has three children and 12 grandchildren, indicating a strong commitment to family and community. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1969 and was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He answered his call to the gospel ministry in December of 1989 and preached his first sermon in February of 1990. Known for his enthusiastic and compassionate style of ministry, Pastor Ferrell uses storytelling to make the Word of God more digestible to those seeking to know God. Pastor Ferrell often times says “his job is to bring fresh baked goods from Heaven’s Bakery and to lead you to acquire the taste. Then to show you where the bakery is, so that you can go get them whenever you want them.”

 

Through Facebook, Pastor Ferrell has a strong online presence where he engages with his audience on Fridays at 6 pm for trivia and Sundays at 2 pm. Overall, Pastor Phillip L. Ferrell has dedicated his life to serving his community, church, and the Word of God, with a particular focus on making the scriptures accessible and relatable to those seeking spiritual guidance.
